Andreas Garyfallos, Greece
Andreas Garyfallos is considered as the “Patriarch” of Greek Water Polo. His carrier started back on 1943 at Mikrolimano of Piraeus, a place that gathered all ambitious players of the era. As an athlete he won 18 Greek National titles and 6 Greek Cups with the team of Ethnicos Piraeus and he had 140 participations with the Greek National team. He has been Head Coach of the Greek National team for 15 years, leading Greece into three Olympic Games, five World championships and six European Champs. Under his leadership Greece finished 10th at Moscow 1980, Olympic Games, the best up to that moment for the Greek Water Polo. In 1993, he coached the Greek Junior team to its first bronze medal (Sopron-Hungary 1993, European Junior Championships). Andreas Garyfallos into his long lasting carrier coached also the teams of Ethnicos Piraeus, Aris Thessalonikis, Nautical Club of Corfu, Panathinaicos AC, Nautical Club of Chios and Heracles Thessalonikis. He is currently President of Ethnicos Piraeus.
