Dante Dettamanti has been Head Coach of the “Stanford Cardinal” Water Polo from 1977 until 2001. During all this years he kept the program running in high gear, building the Cardinal into one of the USA top Water Polo programs. He guided Stanford to 9 NCAA titles (1978, 1980, 1981, 1985, 1986, 1993, 1994, 2001, 2002). In 1979 at the World University Games in Mexico City, he guided the U.S. team to a gold medal. He has also served as an assistant coach for the U.S. National Team that competed at the 1990 World Championships in Perth, Australia. Twelve of his players have gone on to play for the U.S. in the Olympic Games. Stanford University is situated adjacent to the city of Palo Alto, California.
