Pyotr Mshvenieradze was born in 1929 in Tsibili, Georgia, USSR. He played for the club of “Dinamo Moscow” from 1948 to 1963 and he was captain of the USSR National team from 1951 to 1962. During this ten year period, he led his National team to three Olympic Games. In the Helsinki Olympics in 1952, the Soviet team looked to be threatening in the future and its captain excelled as a player and showed his potential to be one of the greatest centre forwards in the history of Water Polo. Mshvenieradze led his team to their first ever medal, a bronze, in the Melbourne Olympics and later in 1960 in Rome the silver. (into the Photo: Mshvenieradze with white cap)
