The National team of Italy at the tournament “Trofeo Ricciardi” in Napoli, July 1956. This tournament, has been organized in memory of the President of Rari Nantes Napoli and was considered as preparation in view of Melbourne 1956 Olympics. Italy tied against Romania 3-3, lost from USSR 4-3 and won against Hungary 2-1 and finished 3rd. Those games were the last for Mario Majoni as National coach since prior to the Olympics he had been substituted by Bandy Zolyomy. The team of Italy: E. Cavazzoni, Cesare Rubini, A, Marciani, Gionta, Fritz Dennerlein, Carlo Pedersoli (later Bud Spenser; in the photo is seated at the middle), P. Pucci. (To note that at Melbourne, Carlo Pedersoli has participated as a swimmer)
