Frans Kuyper: The legendary Dutch coach
Frans Kuyper, has been one of the most important personalities of Dutch and International Water Polo. He played Water Polo for the team of Amsterdam “de Dolfijn”, winner of 1931 National Championship and was member of the Dutch National team at Amsterdam, 1928 Olympic Games. In 1935 he started his glorious carrier as National coach leading Nederlands to the top until Rome 1960, Rome Olympics. He coached Nederlands at 4 Olympic Games: Berlin, 1936 (5th), London, 1948 (3rd), Helsinki, 1952 (5th) and Rome, 1960 (8th).He also led the Nedertlands to 5 European Championships: London, 1938 (3rd), Monaco, 1947 (5th), Vienna 1950 (GOLD), Torino, 1954 (4th) and Budapest 1958 (6th). Among his succeses is also the gold at the prestgious INternational tournament "Tropheo Italia" in 1949.
