Sixteen Nations were entered in Berlin 1936 Olympic Water Polo competition. The teams were divided in to four groups while each team played against the other three in its brackets with only the top two moving on. The United States team finished third in its grouping and was eliminated from the competition after two, heart-breaking, one goal losses to Holland (2-3) and Belgium (3-4).
